The Herman Lucerne Memorial tournament in south Florida’s Everglades is entering its eleventh year, and as in times past the tournament raises money for a good cause. In recent years the tournament has donated thousands of dollars in cash and equipment to the Everglades National Park itself, encouraging anglers to explore the Park and protect its resources. The event celebrates the legacy of Herman Lucerne, who explored fishing in the park for almost 40 years and encouraged many now-famous anglers and celebrities to enjoy its treasures.
This year’s tournament is September 21-23, and there are still some spots open for interested participants. 23 different awards are given out at tournament end, including awards for guided and non-guided anglers and for guides as well.
