Saltwater Gets Saltier

Over the last fifty years, saltwater has become saltier and fresh water fresher, say NASA researchers for the Salinity Processes in the Upper Ocean Regional Study. Changes in evaporation due to temperature, as well as wind might be playing a part. “It is a delicate balance and what we think now is it is not too likely the conveyor belt is going to shut down anytime soon,” says Ray Schmitt, senior scientist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
